I joined this club in January and have done 2 blocks each month. I love this club. You get to watch a video of Amy Gibson showing you how to make 2 different blocks each month and the great thing is, you get to keep the videos for life.
The 2 blocks you make each month are similar to each other. I bought the fat quarter bundle that she uses in her class. Actually, I bought 2 sets of fat quarter bundles because I was running low and didn't want to run out of any of the fabric and I already had to break in to my other bundle.
Here are some pics of my blocks I've made so far...
These first two are the ones we began with. I won't be able to show them in the order I did them in because I don't remember the order. I'll just show you the pics. Here goes:
A lot of these blocks I would never attempt to make on my own because I couldn't figure out how to make them, but she has a knack for showing you an easy way to make each block. These last two were super simple. I've been thinking about making some quilts using just one of these blocks for the whole quilts. Making 16 blocks of the same block.
In her class, we will do the sashing, borders, and quilting!! And by the end of December we will be done and ready to bind our quilts.
I kind of wished I would have picked different fabric than the ones she uses, but oh well. I'm making mine exactly like hers. Here's some more pics...
Now, this is the only block I do not care for one little bit. I think I will redo it. I need some light colors in it and bigger pieces. It's just plain ugly. Here's the one that went with it...
See how cute this block is? The other should be cute too. I just made a big mistake on the other one. I need to watch the video of it again and redo it. And I will. Here is two more...
I liked this one, but I should have used different colors instead of all warm colors. I followed what she did, but I would like it more scrappy looking. Next one I did with this one...
This one was all cool colors, just like what Amy used. I like this one. Not my fav. Next...
First time I ever tried English paper piecing. It was fun! I hand sewed the whole thing. I don't know if you could machine sew it anyway. I could get into making those flowers (I cannot remember the names of them right this minute) and taking a bag with me in my car so I could hand sew them when I go to the doctor's (which is never) or someplace where I have to sit and wait. I really, really enjoyed the hand sewing, which I thought I wouldn't care for at all. Next pp...
This is suppose to be the sun and rays from the sun. Grass at the bottom. Next...
Oops, cut off part of the left edge. It is a Chevron block. I loved making it. Now, this is the one I could make a whole quilt using this block. It is so super, duper easy and it's so pretty. The one that went with it that month is this one...
Remember, I'm using the same fabric that she is using. I don't think I would have chosen these colors together myself. Kind of boring block. Okay, next one...
This is a modern 9 patch. I really, really liked it. I like the one that goes with it also. It is also a modern 9 patch. Here it is...
Isn't it cute? I just love it! I want to make a quilt using this block only, also. She made a quilt using this block but without the corners and I loved it. I have to try it.
Now I am up to this month's. I have it pinned to the background fabric only. I am going to zigzag it on, just like she did. It's a Dresden plate. One of the first quilts I made had Dresden plates on it and I couldn't believe how easy they were, so I was so excited to be making them again.
This one I am showing you now, I would like to make a quilt using just the plates, but the second block is so awesome that I am for sure going to make a quilt using that block. I will probably make it right after I finish my "French Braid" quilt. So here's my Dresden plate...
It's so much more bright and cheerful than this picture depicts. Okay, after I finish sewing this down, I will do my final block for this month and take a picture of it and if it turns out like Amy's does, then you will understand why I want to make a quilt right away using that block. It's a modern version of this. I don't know if Amy thought this up herself or what, but I've never seen this block before. So, be prepared. You'll see it before you see these as I am going to publish these right now and then that one tomorrow and it will be the first one. Bye for now. Tatyana, I hope you are reading this. I think you are the only person who reads my blog!!! I need to do a giveaway to see if I have any followers. I just received a very nice kit for a table runner that I might give away. I'll check it out.
Well Tatyana isn't the only person who reads your blog :) Your blocks look great! I signed up for this class, too, but haven't done any of the blocks yet. :( Will hopefully start soon! Seeing your blocks just might motivate me enough to get started :)
